Dr. Melissa Ernst is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. She is a residency trained, TPA/g licensed optometrist, authorized to treat glaucoma by the New Hampshire Board of Registration in Optometry. Dr. Ernst provides comprehensive eye care services, including diabetic eye exams, and cataract surgery post operative care. She has a special interest in glaucoma detection and management. She is a Centrasight certified provider for pre and post operative care of patients undergoing Intraocular Microtelescope implantation. She has been practicing optometry for 20+ years, most of which have been here in Manchester. She has worked alongside other area ophthalmologists, as well as spending most of her career providing medical eye care to patients at Dartmouth Hitchcock.
Dr. Ernst received her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of Houston, Houston, Tx. She was the recipient of multiple leadership awards both from the university and the college of optometry, Dean’s list, and letters of clinical excellence in optometry. Dr. Ernst has published an article and presented lectures on various types of secondary glaucoma. She completed a residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore Veteran’s Administration, Baltimore, MD. During her residency, she attended daily grand rounds lectures at Wilmer Eye Institute and completed external rotations with cornea, retina and glaucoma specialists affiliated with Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Ernst is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She is a member of the New Hampshire Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She resides in Manchester with her husband, son and daughter. As a family, they are all active in Kenpo karate and Gracie jiu-jitsu.
