WELCOME TO THE MEDICAL EYE CENTER As one of the area’s leading healthcare providers, we look forward to meeting all of your vision care needs. Our objectives are to provide you with the best in eye care and a positive experience in our office. For your first visit to the practice, we ask that you plan to arrive approximately fifteen minutes prior to your appointment time. This fifteen-minute period will give both you and our staff an opportunity to register you in our system and complete any necessary paperwork. Depending on the type of examination that you need, please allow for up to two hours for dilation and any tests that may be performed.
WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT
- The completed, including proper legal documentation required for “Guardian” or “Power of Attorney” status, if applicable. If you have not received a registration form, you may download one here: registration form (click here)
- Your insurance card(s) and co-pay, if applicable, with referral requested from primary care physician, if needed. Click here for information about insurance.
- Your current eyeglasses.
- Sunglasses (to wear after your dilated exam) We will provide you with disposable sunglasses if you need them.
- A companion (to drive you after your dilated exam) if you are unsure of your ability to drive while dilated, you may want to bring a driver with you.
- Your list of medications and allergies to any medications.
INSURANCE INFORMATION Our office participates with most major insurance carriers. Here are some tips to help make your visit with us easier:
- If you are unsure about your coverage for any ophthalmologic procedure, call your insurance carrier prior to making an appointment with one of our doctors.
- If you do intend to use insurance coverage to pay for any part of your bill, please contact the office ahead of time to confirm that we are able to process claims through your carrier.
- Contact your carrier and have them send you any forms that they require of our office to process your claim. Be sure to ask about this when you call us if you are unsure. We may have forms for your carrier already.
If the procedure you require is not covered by your medical insurance, we accept all major credit cards, and Care Credit.
REGARDING YOUR EXAM A comprehensive eye examination is needed to make a diagnosis and to formulate the best treatment plan. Drops are often placed in the eyes to dilate (open) the pupils. This enables the doctor to perform a detailed exam of the retina, nerves and blood vessels in the back of the eye. When your pupils are dilated you can expect blurring of your vision and light sensitivity for several hours after your visit, hence the need for sunglasses and a driver. A complete exam may take anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on what additional testing may be required. Please plan accordingly. REGULAR HOURS
- Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY Patients of The Medical Eye Center may call 603-668-2020 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if experiencing a medical eye emergency. During non-office hours, a recorded message provides direction for reaching the physician who is “on call”. Click here for our contact information.
